GOHS gives $5 million to various agencies to target DUI

The Georgia Crime Lab got $236,000 to purchase a new LC/MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry) testing insturment for urine and blood analysis.

Georgia’s new DUI-Courts project got $300,000 to add six more locations for a total of nine DUI-courts statewide. The DUI-Courts are targeted at reducing recidivism amongst repeat offenders and high BAC cases.

ADAP (Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program) got $223,000. All Georgia teenagers must take this course before receiving their Class D driver’s license learner’s permit. The program is for ninth grade students in both public and private schools. The program will get program consultant, updated instructor guide and new student materials.

H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Driving) will get a total of $3.5 million to fund 19 traffic enforcement units across the state.
